Hannah McCray, 25 Sep 1838<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Jacob Miller, Sr. m. Hannah Broyles, 28 Jun 1845<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">NOTE &#8211; CMB: by Bedford Co, VA Wills, Dated June 16, 1777, Henry Taylor (Tayler) mentions the &#8220;land whereon we Christopher and I now lives&#8221; &#8212; so he may have been buried in this cemetery. He names his wife Sarah, sons Christopher, Skelton, William and John, and daus. Lannah (Zannah, Sannah ?), Sarah, Sherlot, Rachel Richason, Elizabeth Richason and Cloy Rundfro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Christopher Taylor m. Mary Edwards; Sarah Cantrell&#8217;s will of Nov 4, 1783, Bedford Co. VA, makes it evident that Mary was dau. by her first marriage to an Edwards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Hannah was the dau. of Christopher&#8217;s son Henry, who m. Delilah Demoss. Henry d. ca 1856; Delilah, b. Sept 3, 1776, d. June 16, 1869. It is possible that they are buried in this plot since both his father and their daughter are here. Hannah seems to have had at least two children by Cyrus Broles: Abraham T. b Nov 1, 1839 and Samuel N. b July 22, 1841, as they are mentioned in the Bible of Jacob Miller, Sr. In his will, Henry mentions his wife Delilah and &#8220;my four children&#8221; &#8211; sons, Abraham and Skelton, and daus, Polly Barkley and Hannah Miller.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Abstracted from <i>History of Washington County Tennessee, 1988<\/i> by Watauga Association of Genealogists, p.511.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Christopher Taylor, son of Henry and Sarah Taylor, was born 1746 in Bedford County, Virginia. He married 1768 Mary Edwards. The Taylors settled (1774-76) on 205 acres of land on Limestone Creek in Washington County, Tennessee. They built a two-story log house that stands today in the historical district of Jonesborough.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">According to Capt. Taylor&#8217;s Revolutionary War record, he served (1776) with Capt. Erwin, Col. Christian, and Col. John Sevier against the Cherokee Indians who were in league with the British and he served as Captain under Sevier at the Battle of King&#8217;s mountain. Capt. Taylor was present at the surrender of the British Capt. De Peyster. later, Taylor represented Washington County in the first legislature for the State of Franklin.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Capt. Taylor died 10 Sept 1833 in Washington County, Tennessee and was buried at the Taylor homestead. His grave is marked.
