The graves were moved November 20, 1992 by Appalachian Funeral Home to Roselawn Memory Gardens, Erwin Highway, Johnson City, TN. (?), d. 1955<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">John Little<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">3 unknown<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><b>Additional Information:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><i><b>Johnson City Press, <\/b><\/i>November 20, 1992, p.3:<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 90%;\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"100%\">\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><b>Remains in Old Graveyard Excavated to be Reinterred<\/b> by John Newland.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">Human remains that lay abandoned for decades are being moved from a forgotten graveyard on Johnson City Medical Center Hospital Property.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">Workers from Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home and a local construction company on Thursday began excavating the cemetery, where there hasn&#8217;t been a burial in more than 40 years.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">When all the remains are recovered, they will be reinterred at Roselawn Memory Gardens.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">&#8220;We expect to find 12 to 15 people,&#8221; said Randy Cook the hospital&#8217;s associate administrator of support services.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">&#8220;But all the information we have is based on hearsay. There&#8217;s no documentation. It&#8217;s not written down who all is buried there and where.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">The only body tentatively identified is that of Charles E. Love, whose grave marker was found intact. According to the marker, Love lived from 1871 to 1942.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">After talking to an elderly woman whose house is next to the cemetery, hospital officials have come to the conclusion other family names could be found at the site, but the markers are no longer present.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">&#8220;There is a Garland family whose people are buried here, and maybe a couple of others,&#8221; said Chuck Bowman, owner of Appalachian-Hartman and supervisor of the dig.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">[A picture of the operation was also included with the article.]<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><em>Johnson City Press<\/em>, 3 January 2022, reprint of an article in the <em>Chattanooga Daily Times<\/em>, 3 January 1897 with the dateline of Johnson CIty:\u00a0 The remains of Nat R.
