Miller farm. He had started this as the burial place for his descendants and his relatives. The cemetery was set up prior to the Civil War; and no doubt George W. Miller’s first wife, Sarah Loudermilk Miller, who died c1858, was the first person to be buried there – grave unmarked. George W. Miller, his sister, Margaret Miller Little, his brother, James Madison Miller and their husband/wives, children and grand children make up the majority of those buried there. There is reason to believe George W. Miller’s father, Henry, Sr. [died 9-20-1863] and his brother, Lafayette Miller are also buried there in unmarked graves.

Tombstones have recently been cleaned and reset in this well kept cemetery. The city of Johnson City has made it impossible to park beside of the cemetery. Visitors must park across the street and walk across five lanes of traffic to visit the cemetery.

GPS location: 36° 20.32N 082° 24.22W; Elevation: 1621ft.

[table “251” not found /]

Surveyed, transcribed and donated to the Washington County TNGen Web June 2003 by Donna Cox Briggs and Betty Jane Hylton members of the Cemetery Survey Team of Northeast Tennessee.
