Located along side of the walking path that parallels State of Franklin Rd, Johnson City, Tennessee between the Carroll Reece Station post office and Sunset Drive. Starting at the post office entrance to the path, walk approximately 0.2 mi. on the path toward Sunset Drive. The cemetery is on the left in a clump of cedar trees between the 4th and 5th light post from Med Tech Pkwy. There is a fence on two sides of the cemetery. This cemetery was in very poor condition and in an area that is rapidly being developed. However, it was cleared off\u00a0 (June 2002) and two more tombstones were discovered.<\/span><\/p>\n

James T. Kelley married in Carter County, TN on 20 Apr 1867 to Mary F. Range. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first record of Kinchin Kelley is found in the 1787 Washington Co. tax list:<\/span><\/p>\n

The deed to Kinchen Kelley from Adonjah Morgan for 200 acres of land was recorded on May 12, 1791, Washington County, Tennessee. The land was a portion of the John McMachen, Esq. 1781. With the exception of a few words are not readable, the deed is as follows with no spellings changed:<\/span><\/p>\n

This Indenture made the twelfth day of May, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one, between Adonijah Morgan of Greene County and Kinchen Keley of Washington County, both of the western territory witnesseth that for and in the Consideration of the sum of thirty pounds to him in hand paid by the said Kinchen Keley the receipt wherof he doth hereby acknowledge both bargained in note and by these present doth bargain and sell a tract or parcel of land lying on the drains of Nob Creek containing two hundred acres more or less it being part of a tract of three hundred acres granted to John McMachen, Esqu. by the state of North Carolina bearing the date at Hilsbro [?] the thirteen day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty three [?]80,378 and then conveyed To Adonijah Morgan the tenth day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine beginning at the Nelson’s corner at his fields a chestnut or white oak and thence south twenty degrees west one hundred and fifty five poles to a stake on the old line of the original track thence west two hundred and thirteen poles to a black oak thence north one hundred and seventy four poles to a large gum tree thence north fifty and east one hundred and sixty poles to a conditional line made between Pharow Cob and John McMachen, Esqu. if the one hundred and sixty poles runs over his line it is to stop at this line thence on the said line to the beginning or parcel of and with all wood water mines minerals heredilaments [?] and approxtenances to the said line belonging or in any wise appertaining the said Adonijah Morgan doth hereby resign over to the said Kinchen Keley his heirs and assigns forever and those presents doth bargain sell assign enfoss [?] and release the said two hundred acres of land more or less and promices unto the said Kinchen Keley all in all manner of purpose claiming the same by from or made him or his Executors or assigne forever in testomony whereof he hath here unto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and year first above written.<\/span><\/p>\n

I Kinchen Killey of the State of Tennessee Washington being now old and frail in body but yet of perfect sound mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do hereby make this instrument of writing to be my last will and testament as followeth — <\/span><\/p>\n

First I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth for her support from the proceed of my plantation the house I now live with all my household goods and furniture my stock of cattle sheep and hogs with all notes due and owing to me and all other debts of every description to collect for her own use and for her to will and do with said money and other property as she shall choose to do with the full possession of my plantation during her natural life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second I leave and bequeath to my son Kinchen Killy the plantation I now live on with all improvements and appurtenances there on belonging after the death of my wife. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thirdly I leave to my Grandson Joseph Houston my Rifle gun powder horn and shot bag.<\/span><\/p>\n

Forthly I leave to my two sons Jonathan Killy and Kinchen Killey my Smith tools and waggon to use between them as they formerly have done or divide them equally if they choose to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fifthly my daughter Margaret wife of Jacob Miller my daughter Barbara wife of George Little my daughter Mary wife of John Miller also my daughter Fatha wife of Jonathan Range and my daughter Elizabeth — also my son Joshua Killey my son William Killey my son John Killey my son Elijah Killey and Jonathan Killey all having heretofore received from me what I could them spare for them and to make them all equal alike as near as I could with all my children I now give and bequeath to them the several sums they have heretofore received.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly I nominate and appoint my son Jonathan Killey Executor of this my last will and without giving security <\/span><\/p>\n

testament \/\\ revoking all other wills Legacies and bequests by me made an pronounce this to be my last will and testament. I testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Affixed my Seal the ninth day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirty-five<\/span><\/p>\n
