Hunt (Henson) Cemetery Grave Removals<\/p><\/div>\n

This cemetery was located behind Smith Wholesale, Rocky Top Rd., Johnson City, TN. It was just barely over the Washington\/Carter Counties line and was in Carter County. We are including it on the Washington County page because maps show it in Washington County.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Henson Hunt Cemetery is near the Washington-Carter County line in Carter County. It is near the old stone house of Henson Hunt owned by the late Professor E.E. Hawkins and family, route 6, Johnson City, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n

P.O. Box 1160, 103 E. Main Street, Johnson City, Tennessee 37605-1160 <\/span><\/p>\n

within thirty days (30) from the last date of publication or a judgement by <\/span><\/p>\n

default may be entered and the cause set for hearing ex parte as to John <\/span><\/p>\n

Doe and Jane Doe and any unidentified or unknown heir of any Defendant or <\/span><\/p>\n

person which is a relative by consanguinity to any person buried on the <\/span><\/p>\n

The cemetery in question is small and contains no markings to establish the <\/span><\/p>\n

period or time during which internments took place there, but the same <\/span><\/p>\n

probably occurred in the 1800’s or early 1900’s possibly during the <\/span><\/p>\n

ownership of the property by J. Preston Johnson. It is part of a 2.067 acre <\/span><\/p>\n

tract owned by Charles R. Smith, Jr. situated in the 5th Civil District of <\/span><\/p>\n

Carter County, Tennessee, located to the north of the Smith Wholesale <\/span><\/p>\n

Company, Inc, facility and to the east of U.S,. Hwy. 23\/Interstate 181 and <\/span><\/p>\n

which is more particularly described as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

Being at and iron pin in the Subject Property , said POINT OF BEGINNING <\/span><\/p>\n

being north 67 degrees 33 minutes east 286.99 feet from and iron pin in the <\/span><\/p>\n

easterly sideline of a 50 ft. right-of-way corner to the Subject Property <\/span><\/p>\n

and Smith Wholesale Company, Inc. Thence with the line of Smith Wholesale <\/span><\/p>\n

Company, Inc, north 45 degrees 62 minutes east 25.35 feet to and iron pin <\/span><\/p>\n

in the Subject Property; thence north 52 degrees 38 minutes west 66.80 feet <\/span><\/p>\n

to and iron pin; thence south 19 degrees 54 minutes west 30.80 feet to and <\/span><\/p>\n

June 29, 2001, at the Carter County Courthouse in Elizabethton, TN, Judge Seeley approved the removal of the remains to be reinterred in the Snyder Memorial Gardens, 5913 Kingsport Hwy., Gray, TN 37615. The cemetery was identified as the Henson Hunt Cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three remains were removed to Snyder Memorial Gardens September 4, 2001.<\/span><\/p>\n
