Hartman Cemetery
2004<\/p><\/div>\n

Located behind 229 Bacon Road, Jonesborough, TN, on the right about 200 feet near a walnut tree. The stones are broken and fallen over. There were pieces of several stones found. There were two graves marked by fieldstones.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1960, Charles Bennett transcribed this cemetery and found the same two stones. His information is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

John B. Hartman, Co I Tenn Cav (Family records say he was b 1829, d 1902)<\/span><\/p>\n

Henry Hartmon, June 22, 1785 — March 31, 1838 (family records state he was b 22 Jun 1784) He indicated that the discrepancy in dates could have been his mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOTES—Henry Hartman married Polly Brown in 1806. He was the son of Joseph Hartman (1753-1831) and wife, Mary Henley (1747-1834). Polly was born 28 Dec 1784 and died in 1860. She is probably buried here, too. Henry Hartman was a soldier in the War of 1812. Henry and Polly were the parents of John B. who married Jane Holmes on 17 Mar 1850. Matilda Hartman (5 or 15 Mar 1809 \u2013 1 Jul 1890) was the daughter of Henry and Polly, and second wife of Richard Humphreys. She is supposed to be buried here. Richard Humphreys is buried at Mount Zion with his first wife.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
