Cemetery<br \/>2008<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Located behind the house near a fence at 1178 Old Stage Road, Gray, Tennessee. There are two very large boxwoods in the middle of an approximate 30 x 50 ft. cemetery. No part may be copied without written permission from the Cemetery Survey Team.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Family researchers, Mark Strickler and Ila Hamilton supplied the following information: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Isaac Hamilton Sr. was born ca. 1791 and died before 1858. His first wife was Lucinda Hale, b. 5 May 1791 and d. before 1835, daughter of Ann Chase and George Hale III. (George is buried in the George Hale Cemetery.) Isaac\u2019s second wife was Nancy Ann Gott, b. ca 1801 and d. 18 Jan 1882. They were married 25 Jun 1835 and were the parents of Isaac H. Hamilton Jr, who is buried in this cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Isaac H. Hamilton drew a Confederate Civil War pension for service with the nitre bureau.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Isaac and Eliza&#8217;s son, James A. Hamilton lived in the home place at which this cemetery is located until the house burned. James was a carpenter and wagon maker, as was his father. Later he served as an undertaker and casket maker. James is buried in the Boone&#8217;s Creek Church of Christ Cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Charles B. Carey is assumed to be son of William M. and Mary E. Hamilton Carey based on circumstantial evidence.\u00a0\u00a0 In the 1900 census, Mary was listed as having had one child who was deceased.\u00a0 Mary was daughter of Isaac Jr. and Eliza Hamilton.\u00a0William and Mary married in 1879, and they are buried in the Highland Church of Christ Cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Identities for the other two graves (&#8220;A. H.&#8221; and &#8220;Unknown&#8221;) are not known for sure, but a few possibilities might be:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1) Nancy Ann Gott Hamilton, mother of Isaac H. Hamilton.\u00a0 Nancy was living with Isaac in 1870 and was listed as an invalid. She is supposed to have died in 1882, although she has not been located in the 1880 census.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2) Mary A. Murray Hamilton, first wife of James A. Hamilton (son of Isaac H. Hamilton).\u00a0 They married in 1877, and she had died by 1880.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3) Abigail Jenkins Hamilton, widow of John Hamilton (half-brother of Isaac H.
