Records began in January 1778.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">IMPORTANT DATES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>1772<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four communities established in northeast Tennessee:\u00a0 On the Watauga River; the North Holston; the Nolichucky; Carter&#8217;s Valley.
