Welcome!
RAINS, FLETCHER
The above are my surnames.
I believe that Asahel Rains
is buried in French Cemetery in Warren County along with
other members of his family.
I also know that Capt. John
Rains was his father, but nothing else. Do you know if
Capt John Rains is buried in Warren County?
What
information is available and at what cost that would help
me gain additional information for my records?

FOSTER, ANDERSON
According to the Family Bible, Ed L. Foster was born in 1865 in either Hickman Co.
or Warren Co. He married Eliza Anderson 10 Aug 1887 in Warren Co. She
was born in Warren Co. as were her parents Daniel Smoot
Anderson and
Ollie Melton. I believe Ed and Eliza moved to Texas with her parents in
1888, where their daughter Velma Hassie Foster was born. I would like to
know who Ed Foster's parents were and where they were from. Family
stories have it that his father was from New York and his mother from
Michigan. Ann Melugin Williams, 708 Misty Glen Ln., Dallas, TX 75232

ANDERSON, SMOOT
According to Ann Melugin Williams, (query above)
Elizabeth "Smoot" was the wife of James Anderson (James, son of Isaac Anderson). This from a family record. Both James and Elizabeth died in 1846, leaving a large family including a son Daniel Smoot Anderson.
They lived very close to the other Anderson and Smoot families along the Barren Fork River near Old Well Rd. and Old Shelbyville Rd.
Relationship of Elizabeth to Thomas, William and Daniel Smoot is sought.
Looking for the whereabouts of an old Anderson Family Bible, said to have been in the hands of Anderson descendent, a woman with the surname
Cooper, about 1970.

CUMMINGS
I would like to get information about my GG uncle Joseph Cummings,
III...grandson of Revolutionary Soldier Joseph Cummings. It is my
understanding that Joseph, III committed suicide by hanging himself in a
barn in Warren County in the late 1800's. I have military records
showing him serving as a Confederate Soldier. He appears in the 1850
census of Van Buren County in the home of his father, Joseph Cummings,
Jr., first Trustee of Van Buren County. Whom did he marry? Did he have
any children? Are there coroner's records that tell the details of his
death? All responses appreciated.
