__I a looking for information (proof of birth and mother and father) on a William Marion HOBBS born March 1862 in Tracy City, Tenn, Grundy Co.(however he may have been born in Warren Co. Tenn) __He (William) is supposed to have married a Phila Ann FULTS(z)about 1877 looking for marriage records on this.(Need info. on her, I just found out she is listed in Warren Co. Tenn. Census 1860 with her father being Nathan Fultz & mother Mary Crouch, she had brothers and sisters William, John, Harritt, Martha, Carrol, Nancy) William Hobbs and Phila Ann had 3 children: Allie (or Ella) born sept 1884 (Tenn) Ollie born Nov 1885 (Tenn) Richard born Apr, 24, 1888 (Tenn), Died 1958 in Atoka, Oklahoma __William then married Lena Rivers McMAKIN (Need info. on her) before or after moving to Sherman, Tx about 1890 and had a daughter Vada and Son (or Step Son) Claude, He then moved to Muskogee,Ok about 1897. Lena died in 1897 in Muskogee,OK __William then married Carrie Stonehouse about 1900 and then moved to Atoka, Ok in 1903, and supposedly died in Muskogee, OK in 1918.

Submitted on Tue Oct 27 20:33:19 EST 1998Editor's note: According to Walter Womack, McMinnville at a Milestone 1810-1960, [Warren County] "citizens witnessed in the Autumn of 1838, the exodus of almost 10,000 of these aborigines [Cherokee] as they passed through the county on their way to the Indian Territory." Womack states that at least three groups camped in Warren County, one at Shellsford, one at Irving College, and one on Old Shelbyville Road near Crisp Springs. There is more in his book about the Trail of Tears.

MCDANIEL, WRIGHT
I am searching for the parents of John Henry MCDANIEL. He was born 1858 to 1861 around McMinnille. When he was about 5 to 8 his parents both died of the influenza. He moved to his grandparents somewhere in TN, possibly in the same area. I know he was a close cousin to the WRIGHT Brothers and lived with them when he was about 15 or so. I would really like to know who is parents and grandparents are. He later moved to Hopkins County, KY where he died in 1938.

In researching my Cherokee heritage: my grandmother Lena Mae DRAKE who I believe was born in McMinnville (or very close by) in 1898 (I think). She was from a large family. I remember two sisters names (Sofie and Phoebe). She is said to be a half-blood Cherokee descendent. She married Sheridan Wesley HOLLAND in the early 1920s; however, I don't know if they married in Tennessee. My grandpa, Sheridan Wesley HOLLAND, is said to be a full-blood Cherokee descendent and born in Texas in 1902 (I think). I searched a little on the Dawes Rolls for my paternal great-grandpa, Jesse Worthy HOLLAND without luck. My grandparents lived in Park Hill, Oklahoma many years until grandpa's death in 1978. I think I have a 2nd cousin from Tennessee: Tom DRAKE. Any information about the DRAKE's having any relation/heritage with the Cherokee Nation is appreciated.

Mark Jones TIDWELL, and wife Eleanor STARNES TIDWELL, were on the 1812 Warren Co. Tn. Tax List. After that they were next seen on the census of 1820 Warren Co., living near a REUBEN TIDWELL, relationship unknown. Also on the 1812 Tax list is Josiah TIDWELL, who later moved to Blount Co. Al. There is a Simon TIDWELL on same tax list. Does anyone know who Simon TIDWELL was? Who were his parents? Who were the parents of Mark Jones TIDWELL and wife Eleanor STARNES? Mark and Eleanor moved to Jackson Co. Al., then to Dekalb Co. Al. Mark TIDWELL died April 13, 1840, Dekalb Co. Al., according to his War of 1812 records. Eleanor was on 1850 and 60 Dekalb Co. Al.
