ESTES, DURHAM, ANDERSON, ASHFORD

Looking for information on Henry B. Anderson who married Elizabeth (surname unknown) in Cannon County. Henry had brothers Horace and Bud, and I think his parents' names were John Anderson and Elizabeth (Eliza) Ashford. Family recalls Henry and his brother Bud were married to the Ashford sisters. Mama Lizzie used to live with her daughter Vassey before her death in the early 1960s and Henry was long gone by then. Can't seem to find any family members that remember where they're buried :( Henry and Liz had several children, one of which was Hassie Anderson (b.12/18/1900-d.2/19/1985, my husband's great-grandmother). From what I understand, Henry married over 5 times and produced many children from each union, but I'm not sure of his wives' names or his other children's names. Another lineage I'm researching is for the ESTES side of the family. I'm looking for information on Nan DURHAM (b.2/12/1873-d.2/1/1946) and John 'Que' Estes (unknown birth/date dates) who are the parents of Robert Harvey Estes b.1889.

SNOW

The Snow's first went to what was then Warren County but now DeKalb County. Dry Creek and Snows Hill is where the Warren County Land Tax Records of 1812 show Ebenezer, John and two William Snows. One William was Ebenezer's brother the other his son. Ebenezer's son was often called William Jr. to differentiate him from his uncle who was eight years older. Ebenezer's land was surveyed in 1811 with Thomas and Solomon serving as chain carriers.
By 1816 the Snow's moved to Roane County. It is believed the family included Ebenezer and Sally with children William, Thomas, Polly, Solomon and James. In 1814 Susannah had married in Warren County to Mr. Hill.
I am trying to establish a link between the youngest child James, born 1801 in North Carolina and his parents Ebenezer and Sarah/Sally Snow. James was born after the 1800 Census in NC. The only thing I can think of is that an 1810 Census would show the number of children that Ebenezer had in his household.

CARTER, TATE

In the 1820 census for Warren Co., TN there is a Johnson CARTER listed with his wife and three sons and three daughters. My ancestor, Johnson CARTER moved from TN to Gallatin (later Saline) County, Illinois around 1840. Three of his children that I know are Hubbard b. 1816; Parthena b. 1821; and William David Fletcher b. 1827. My line runs through Hubbard who married Martha TATE in Gallatin Co., IL in 1841. All three children listed their place of birth as Tennessee, as did Martha TATE. I believe that the CARTERs and TATEs probably moved to Illinois together. Johnson CARTER was b. in North Carolina in 1787 and his wife Catherine was born in Maryland in 1785. If anyone has any information on any of these families, please e-mail me at rgunter@conroe.isd.tenet.edu
