{"id":483,"date":"2013-06-13T02:08:12","date_gmt":"2013-06-13T02:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/?p=483"},"modified":"2013-06-13T02:08:12","modified_gmt":"2013-06-13T02:08:12","slug":"tate-house-in-1880-group-photo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/tate-house-in-1880-group-photo\/","title":{"rendered":"Tate House in 1880 (Group Photo)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Many thanks to Scott Mitchell for sharing this 1880 photo of men in front of Tate House, located on the corner of East Main and Sparta in McMinnville. \u00a0Tate House was owned and operated by his great-great grandfather <strong>James Douglas Tate<\/strong> and wife<strong> Mary Jane (McGregor) Tate<\/strong>. \u00a0 John Douglas Tate died in 1902; <strong>Mary Jane<\/strong> in 1911. \u00a0 Soon after Mary Jane died, <strong>Charles and Martha (Tate) Mitchell<\/strong> sold the boarding house to the <strong>Brown<\/strong> family and moved to Nashville. \u00a0Tate House became known as the Brown House at that point. \u00a0Sometime prior to 1925 the boarding house burned down and the Brown Motel was built on the lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-484 aligncenter\" alt=\"TateHouse\" src=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"685\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse.jpg 960w, https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse-660x470.jpg 660w, https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/TateHouse-240x171.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Charles A.
