{"id":435,"date":"2013-05-24T22:23:49","date_gmt":"2013-05-24T22:23:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/?p=435"},"modified":"2013-05-19T22:24:03","modified_gmt":"2013-05-19T22:24:03","slug":"barnes-william-horace-d-1953","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/warren\/barnes-william-horace-d-1953\/","title":{"rendered":"BARNES, William Horace (d. 1953)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>DeKalb Rites For Horace Barnes, 72<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>William Horace Barnes<\/strong>, 72, father of <strong>Commander Roscoe Barnes<\/strong> of the VFW post, died at his home in Riverside community Monday afternoon at 4:45 o\u2019clock, following an illness of four years.\u00a0 Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Christ at Jefferson, DeKalb county, with <strong>Rayton Cope<\/strong> and <strong>Felix Cantrell<\/strong> officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.\u00a0 A native of Dekalb county, <strong>Mr. Barnes<\/strong> was born February 8, 1881.\u00a0 He was a son of the late <strong>Arch Barnes and Martha Cantrell Barnes<\/strong> and he had resided in Warren county for some eight years.\u00a0 Engaged in farming and the nursery business, <strong>Mr. Barnes<\/strong> was a member of the Baptist Church of Christ in Jefferson.\u00a0 He is survived by his wife,<strong> Mrs. Girtha Barnes<\/strong>, McMinnville; four sons, <strong>Roscoe, Cordell<\/strong> and <strong>Billy Jack Barnes<\/strong>, McMinnville, and <strong>Charles Barnes,<\/strong> Viola; four daughters, <strong>Mrs. Marie Rigsby<\/strong>, Smithville; <strong>Mrs. Cleo Cantrell,<\/strong> McMinnville, <strong>Mrs. Bobby Warren<\/strong> and <strong>Mrs. Lucille Allen<\/strong>, Chattanooga.
