First Newspaper Reprint from the Official Public- ation of the Tennessee Press Association
The Middle Tennessee county of Van Buren now has its own newspaper - believed to be the first. Scott M. Crutchfield, publisher of the North Grundy Star in neighboring Grundy County, produced Vol. 1, No. 1, May 8. In his first issue of the six-column weekly, Crutchfield said he hoped to move the printing plant and "home" to Spencer, the county seat of Van Buren. Wildcat Chocked to Death. The creature growled like a dog, then jumped from underbrush, stabing his fangs into Bouldin's right arm. With his left hand he grabbed the cat around the neck and held it off until his son reached them. Both are taking anti-rabies treat- ment after a state laboratory examin- ation indicated the animal was rabid.
