KEITH, Iris June Bouldin  (circa 1939-1999)

Keith, Iris June
             McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Iris June Keith, 60, died Oct. 9 at Summitt Hospital in Nashville after a four-month illness.  A salesperson with WAKI radio for 20 years and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of James Leslie and Effie Mae Myers Bouldin.  She is survived by daughter, Tara Myers of McMinnville; Tony Keith of McMinnville; sister Diane Bogle of McMinnville; two granddaughters, Jennifer George and Brittany Myers of McMinnville; and two great-grandchildren.  Graveside services were held Monday at Mt. View Cemetery with Olan Mooneyham and Jim Gammon officiating.High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

KELL, Asa E.  (1882-1950)

A.E. Kell, 72, Former Member Of Court, Dies
               A.E. Kell, prominent second district farmer and for a number of years a meber of the Warren county court, died at hs home in the New Union community Tuesday evening at 10:15 o'clock.  He had been ill only a short while and was 72.  Funeral rites were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Shellsford Baptist Church with Rev. Creed McCoy officiating.  Burial was in the Shellsford cemetery.  Mr. Kell, native of Van Buren countyk, was born March 7, 1882.  His parents were George E. Kell and Amanda Thomas Kell and he was married to Miss Lydia A. Hillis January 11, 1919.  She survives.  A member of the Baptist Church for over half a centur, Mr. Kell was a deacon of the Shellsford congregation.  Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons John B. Kell, Leroy D. Kell and Thomas M. Kell, McMinnville, George E. Kell, Oklahoma and Asa E. Kell, Jr., Illinois; seven daughters, Mrs. Everett Bouldin, Viola, Mrs. Clarence Higginbothan, Mrs. James A. Julian, Mrs. Leonard Grissom and Mrs. Carson Upton, McMinnville, Mrs. Thurman Whitlock, Nashville and Mrs. Darwin Wiseman, Tullahoma.  Also nineteen grandchildren.  Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.

KELL, George  (circa 1896 - 1968)

             George Lee Kell, 72-year -old retired farmer, died unexpectedly at his residence in Spencer May 21.  He was the husband of Jerusha Hillis.  Funeral services were officiated by Bobby Willhite and Cleve Reeder, being held Thursday at 1 p.m. at High’s Chapel.  Interment was in Crain Hill Cemetery.  The deceased, a member of the Church of Christ was the son of the late George Henry and Mary Worthington Kell.  Survivors other than the widow are one son, G.L. Kell, Rocky River Community; one brother, Chester Kell, Cookeville; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Linda Karolchyk, Texas and Ronald Kell, Thailand, U.S. Air Force.  Arrangements were handled by High’s Inc.

KELL, Jerusha Hillis  (circa 1898-1983)

Jerusha Hillis Kell, 85, of Spencer, died Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at McMinnville Health Care Center following an extended illness.  Funeral services will be held Saturday in High's Chapel with Ray W. Boyd officiating.  Burial will be in Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County.  She was the widow of George Lee Kell, Sr. who died in 1968, a native of Van Buren County and a daughter of the late John Houston and Nellie Barnes Hillis.  A housewife, she was a member of the Church of Christ.  Survivors include one son, G.L. Hillis, Jr., Spencer; one brother Leslie Hillis, Doyle, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  High's, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.

KELL, John Bates  (circa 1904 - 1972)

               John Bates Kell, 68-year-old Route 1, Doyle, farmer, succumbed to a week’s illness at River Park Hospital at 11 p.m. Friday.  A member of the Baptist Church and a native of Van Buren County, he was a son of the late Asa and Mary Elizabeth Sparkman Kell.  He was married to the former Tera M. Johnson who survives.  Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, L.C., Doyle; Price Kell, Mr. View, Calif.; Brownie and Billy C. Kell, both of McMinnville; a sister, Mrs. T.M. Whitlock, Smithville; three half-brothers, Tom, Leroy and Asa Kell, McMinnville; five half-sisters, Mrs. Clarence Higginbotham, Mrs. Leonard Grissom, and Mrs. Carson Upton, McMinnville; Mrs. Alton Julian, Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. David Balkin, Huntsville, Ala., and seven grandchildren.  The Rev. Garvin Haley conducted final rites in High’s Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, burial being in Laurel Creek Cemetery.  High’s, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.

KELL, Rebecca Louise Sparkman (1932-2002)

                Rebecca Louise Sparkman Kell, 70, Doyle resident and Van Buren County native, died Aug. 26 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness. A program assistant with the U.T. Agriculture Extension Office in Van Buren County and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late L.D. and Elvie Parker Sparkman, and was preceded in death by her stepmother, Gladys Sparkman. She is survived by her husband, L.C. Kell; daughter, Jo Ann Kell of Doyle; son, David Kell of Doyle; sister, Grace Kell of Rock Island; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held Tuesday at High's Chapel with Garvin Haley and Kenneth Clayton officiating. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

KING, Melinda B.

King Infant Buried Saturday
                Melinda B. King, month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Osmond King, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday at the Medical Clinic.  She had been sick about a week.  Funeral services were held at High's Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday.  John W. High officiated and burial was in Hills Creek cemetery.  Survivors include the parents, Osmond King and Betty June Teeters King; one brother, Jimmy Lee King; the paternal grandmother of McMinnville; the maternal grandparents, Gordon Teeters of Morrison and Mrs. Eugenia Maxwell of Morrison.  High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

KINNAIRD, Carl Berton  (1926-2001)

Carl Berton Kinnaird, 75, of Sparta, passed away Friday, April 27, 2001, at White County Community Hospital.  Kinnaird was born January 17, 1926, in California, to Herman Dyer and Sarah Sidwell Kinnaird.  He was a farmer.  Kinnaird was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer Lee and Eugene Kinnaird.  Survivors include his wife, Lyrea Ann Kinnaird of Sparta; three sons, James Kinnaird and John Kinnaird both of Sparta and Kenny Kinnaird of McMinnville; two daughters, Sue Kinnaird and Jo Ann Adcock both of Sparta; two sisters, Thelma Klein of Sparta and Edna Qualls of Kettering, Ohio; five grandchildren, Regina Sims, Brian Wilhite, Johnathan Kinnaird, Karena Kinnaird, and Jarrett Paris; two great grandchildren, Tristain and Seth Sims; and several nieces and nephews.  Services were held Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Kinnaird Cemetery. Steve Farris officiated. Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LEEDS, Suzanne Nancy  (1946-2001

                Suzanne Nancy Leeds, 55, of Sparta passed away Monday, June 18, 2001.  Leeds was born May 1, 1946, in NJ, the daughter of William Henndy and Helen DeWalt Kennedy. She was a homemaker.  Memorial services will be Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 4 p.m. in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Bill Stebins will officiate.  Leeds was preceded in death by her parents, son, David Rauschert; and sister, Doris Baker.  Survivors include her husband, Robert Leeds of Sparta; sons, Robert Leeds Jr. of Sparta; Daniel Leeds of Sparta; Richard Rauschert of SC; daughters, Melinda Jeffries of Sparta; Victoria Leeds of Sparta; Susanne White of SC; four sisters, Billie Ireland; Ida Mae Johnson; Josephine Poe; Mary Gunther, and nine grandchildren.  Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LEWIS, Della Phifer  (1886-1952)

Mrs. H. N. Lewis Dies; Rites Held In Texas

Mrs. H.N. Lewis, daughter of Mrs. Maggie Phifer of Irving College, died at her home in Olney, Texas, Sunday evening, following an extended illness.  She was 65.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Olney and burial took place there.  Mrs. Lewis, the former Miss Della Phifer, native of Van Buren county, was born October 17, 1886. She was a daughter of the late James Phifer and Mrs. Phifer and she had resided in Texas since her marriage to Mr. Lewis. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors in addition to her husband and mother, are three sons and one daughter; three brothers, Glenn Phifer, McMinnville, Oliver Phifer, Chattanooga, and Marion Phifer, Oklahoma City, Okla; one sister, Mrs. Shirley Moffitt of Irving College.

LINK, Emma Lou Boyd
          Emma Lou Link, 75, of McMinnville passed away on Friday, April 13, 200l.  Link was born December 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Bud and Fannie Bouldin Boyd. She was a homemaker and a retired bus aid with the Warren County School System. She was a member of the First Church of God.  Services were held Monday, April 16, 2001, in the chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home with burial in the Gardens of Memory. Brother Rex Boles officiated.  Link was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Fannie Boyd; one son, Donnie Link; one sister, Treva Huntley and two brothers, L.B. Boyd and Paul Boyd.  Survivors include her husband, Charles Link of McMinnville; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Kenneth Mullican of McMinnville, Bettye and Eddie Knowles of McMinnville, Peggy and Charlie Anderson of Murfreesboro and Teresa and Dan McInnis of Viola; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Janey Link of Franklin, Andy and Debi Link of McMinnville, Kenny Link of McMinnville; sister, Audrey Davis of McMinnville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Teddy and Olivia Boyd of McMinnville, Ausbon and Carolyn Boyd and Clifton and Louise Boyd all of Spencer; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  McMinnville Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

                Bernice G. Littlefield, 40, Ropesville welder, died at 2:05 p.m. today following an illness of several months.  He moved here last April from Tarbalinda, California.  funeral services are pending at Rix Funeral Home in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.  Littlefield is survived by his wife; one son, Jesse Leon and a daughter, Frances Joan of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Littlefield of Brownfield, Terry County, Texas; five brothers, G.A. Littlefield of Littlefield, Texas, T.J. and C.J. of Brownfield, Texas, R.C. of Lovington, New Mexico, and S.D. of Lingo, New Mexico; four sisters, Mrs. E.H. Martin of Pep, New Mexico, Mrs. E.G. Stalcuy of Maders, California, Mrs. W. D. Harris of Houston, Texas and Mrs. C.A. Bagwell of Fort Worth, Texas.

LITTLEFIELD, Lucy Ethel Martin  (1914-2003)

          ROPESVILLE — Services for Lucy Littlefield, 88, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Ropesville with the Rev. Ted Dotts of Lubbock officiating.  Burial will be in Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors in Levelland.  She died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003.  She was born May 23, 1914, in McMinnville, Tenn. She married Bernice Littlefield on Dec. 23, 1934. He died Feb. 16, 1951. She married Tommie J. Littlefield on March 2, 1953. He died March 12, 1999.  She also was preceded in death by a grandson.  Survivors include a son, Jesse Littlefield of Breckenridge; a daughter, Francis Tindel of Levelland; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be until Friday morning at the funeral home and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

LITTLEFIELD, Tommie J.   (1908-1999)

                     ROPESVILLE (Special) - Services for Tommie J. Littlefield, 90, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church in Ropesville with the Rev. Ted Dotts, pastor emeritus of St. John's United Methodist Church in Lubbock, officiating.  Burial will be in Ropesville Cemetery under direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors.  Littlefield died Friday, March 12, 1999, in Lynwood Manor.  He was born May 9, 1908, in Meadow. He married Lucy Martin on March 2, 1953, in Clovis, N.M. He moved to Levelland from Ropesville. He served on the Ropesville City-County Cemetery Committee and Volunteer Fire Department. He was a carpenter and a farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church.  Survivors include his wife; a son, Jesse of Odessa; a daughter, Francis Tindel of Levelland; two sisters, Verdie Harris of Lubbock and Docia May Bagwell of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church in Ropesville or to Meals on Wheels.  The body will be at the church from 1 p.m. Monday until services.

LOONEY, Roy Nathan  (1913-2001)
              Roy Nathan Looney, 88, of Sparta passed away Sunday, October 14, 2001.  Looney was born September 30, 1913, in Marion County, the son of George and Mary Colston Looney. He was a retired night watchman for the White County Farmers Coop and a farmer.  Services were Wednesday, October 17, 2001, in Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery. A. J. Looper and David R. Sauer officiated.  Looney was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Russell Looney; and son, Dr. G. Russell Looney.  Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Dodson and husband Donald of Sparta; Lorena McKay of Sparta; son, Joe Looney and Dottie of Sparta; brother, J.W. Looney of AL; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LOWE, Jessie Waymond  (1939-2001)

Jessie Waymond Lowe, 62, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2001.  Lowe was born March 16, 1939, in Putnam County, to Luther and Bertha Cooley Lewis.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie Buttrum Lowe of Sparta; two sons, Jerry Wayne Lowe and Jeffery Lynn Boles both of Sparta; one daughter, Rose Lou Lowe of Sparta; three step children, Elaine Swack and Charlene "Cricket" Kerr both of Doyle and Chuck Lowe of Sparta; two brothers, Charlie Lowe of Sparta and Ralph Lowe of Cookeville; one sister, Louetta Margeson of Sparta; six step grandchildren; one step grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  Services were held Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Lower Cherry Creek Cemetery.  Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
