HASTING
Looking for information on families who were living in the 3rd Civil District
of Van Buren County the time of the 1870 census, but don't appear in the
1880 census. Names of my great grandparents. They were the parents
of Hastings, b.1880, in McMinnville, d. 1909, twin boys William (mygrandfather)
and Wilburn H. Hastings, b. 15 Jan. 1887, in Warren County, maybe White
Co. The father was killed in a mine in 1896 at age 44 and the mother died
in 1898 at age 40 somewhere in Warren or White County. Children were sent
to Murfreesboro and grew up there. Maggie and William lived and Wilburn
in Nashville. The 1870 census shows a W.C. others living in close proximity
to each other and near who had children with given names of Clinton and.
May have been some marriage relations between these families be my grandfather's
parents. Any assistance or suggestions appreciated.

HASTON, BURDEN, MOSS
I am trying to locate information regarding my Great-Grandmother, Julia
Ann Burden Moss, born 25 October, 1857 in Van Buren County, TN and died
22 august, 1944 in Putnam County, TN. She married Charles Moss, son of
Amos H. Moss and SARAH HALE, in 1876. There was some controversy regarding
her birth father and whether her name was Burden or Haston/Hastings according
to family tradition. She appears in the 1860 Van Buren County Census living
with the family of M. G. HASSTON, age 35. Other family members include
Rachel, 29, David L, 12, William R., 10, Mary J. 5; V-17-9. My Grandfather
E. J. Moss often referred to a favorite "uncle" named Turner Burden who
appears in the White County 1860 Census as the son of Martha Ann Burden.
I do not know how these families were connected or what the circumstances
of my Great-grandmother's birth were. However, she was a wonderful wife
and mother and I would like to clarify this controversy and find my relatives
if possible. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appre
