Hausen PhifferJack rabbit or tame rabbit (do not bleed) Cut into pieces and layer rabbit, onions sliced over, whole cloves and pepper, crinkle 1 bay leaf. Use 1 tsp. altogether over each layer. Last layer onion and spices. Pour enough vinegar over to cover. Let stand at least 30 hours or 3 days. If vinegar is too strong, don't use it all- dilute with water. Use all spices and onion. Cook until done, 1 hour. Lift meat out of broth and thicken broth and put meat back. Use flour or cornstarch, add sugar to broth. Dumplings: To 1 cup, break an egg and beat. Fill cup with milk, Take 2 cups flour and 1 tsp. baking powder, salt. Add eggs and milk to flour-mix and drop by spoonful. Don't let dumplings touch liquid. Cook slow about 20 minutes.
