Sour Milk Chocolate Cake

(V. Packard)

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 cup sifted cake flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

2/3 cup sour milk

1-2 eggs, beaten

1 tsp. vanilla

2 squares unsweetened chocolate, or 1/4 cup cocoa

Mix in usual order.

Icing:
2/3 cup milk

2 cups granulated sugar

2 squared unsweetened chocolate squares

2 tbsp. corn syrup

2 tbsp. butter

Cook sugar, corn syrup, chocolate and milk, stirring constantly, until it forms a soft ball. Add vanilla and butter and beat to proper consistency.
