Memphis Commerical Appeal - June 30, 1915
MAYO - At residence, 738 Vollentine Ave. Wednesday evening, June 23, 1915,
at 7:15 o'clock. Mrs. Mary J., aged 72 years, widow of the late A. Mayo,
and mother of Mrs. Lizzie Moore, Mrs. T. E. Bell, Mrs. A. C. Burton, Quintard,
W. H., J. W., Miss Julia and Miss Mary Mayo.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd this
Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Friends invited. Interment private. (Blytheville,
Ark., and Covington, TN, papers please copy).

Albert and Mary Mayo lived their last years in Memphis, but Albert moved
to Tipton County approximately 1842, from Pitt County, NC. Served in the
Confederate Army, Tenn 4th Infantry, Company I, Tipton County Rifles. Married
Mary Johanna Harrell in December 1865.
