I, William Odom, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, but aware of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, do make and publish this my last will and testament.

Item 1st.
I give and bequeath to my son, Wesley Odom, the Western portion of the lot of ground on which I now live. to wit; that part which lies West of the Church and containing one acre and perhaps a little ove, [sic] to have absolutely.

Item 2.
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Esther Odom, the balance of the place on which I reside, to have and enjoy during her natural life, and at her death the same to go to my grandson, Net, the son of Geo. Bullock and my daughter Eliza now dead, to have absolutely. But during the life of my said wife, I wish my said grandson to have a home & shelter with her on said place and I wish him to assist my said wife while he may live with her. The lot of ground herein before devised is the same purchased by me from E. B. Smith and Daniel Escue and for which I hold deeds. The deed from the former is two acres & that from the latter is made to them for description and boundaries.

Item 3.
The proceeds of the claim which I have against the U. S. Government for $214.00 should the same be collected, I wish equally divided between my said wife and my two grandsons, Net and Mitchell, sons of Geo. Bullock and my daughter Eliza, aforesaid.

Witness my hand this the 7th day of March 1879.

This Will was signed in our presence by testator, William Odom making his mark to the same, and by his request we witnessed the same and have signed our names hereto as witnesses in the presence of each other and also the presence of said testator.
This the 7th day of March 1879.

I, William Odom do make and publish this as a codicil to my will dated 7th day of March, 1879. As my son Wesley Odom is now dead, I here revoke Item 1. in said will, and I do now give and bequeath the land described in item 1. of my said will to my daughter Fannie Beasley and my grandson Wesley Odom, the son of Wesley Odom deceased share and share alike. Witness my hand 27 day of January 1887.

Sumner County Court March Term 1887.
The last Will and Testament of William Odom deceased was this day produced in open Court and duly proven by the oaths of J. A. Trousdale and C. W. Trousdale subscribing witnesses thereto, Also a [pg. 404] Codicil to the said Will duly proven by the oaths of F. C. Allen and Samuel Nickelson two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, all of which is received and ordered to be recorded.
