Note: Richmond C. Tyree, sometimes called Richard Tyree, was proprietor of the famous spa and mineral springs resort "Tyree Springs" which was burned at Christmas at the time Sumner County was occupied by Federal Troops.
"In the name of Almighty God Amen. I Richmond C. Tyree Sumner County and state of Tennessee being weak in body but of sound mind do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament
1st I will and ordain that my just debts be paid.
2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary my negro boy called Greenack also my carriage and harness to be at her disposal forever.
3rd I will and ordain that the tract of land on which I now live be sold as soon as a fair value for the same can be obtained two thousand dollars of the proceeds of which sale I direct to be appropriated to the purchase of a tract of land which may be considered a suitable place for the residence of my wife and children and to belong to my wife during her natural life.
4th The proceeds of the balance of the sale of this my place of residence and all other property or interest real or personal not above named I desire as follows etc. viz: I will and bequeath my beloved wife Mary the one third part of my estate both real and personal for her natural life the two thousand dollars above mentioned as the fund for her purchasing a future residence for my wife and children is to be so much of my wills said one third part. I further will and declare that all my estate both real and personal not above specially disposed of shall be kept together in the same general stock the better to enable my wfe to support and educate my children.
5th When any one of my daughters shall marry or a son or daughter arrive at the age of twenty one years of age he or she shall be entitled to his or her ratible share of the property.
6th It is my will that my wife keep for the benefit of herself and family so much of the household and kitchen furniture farming utensils stock of every description and my present crop as may be sufficient further comfort and convenience.
7th I wish it was understood that the amount of money received by my son William from me and a negro boy Charles which I now bequeath to him shall be considered so much of his ratible share of my estate it shall be optional with my son William to take the said boy Charles now and pay a reasonable hire until he William is of age or to let Charles remain in the general stock till that period.
8th I will that my tract of land 200 acres part of the Robertson & Spring tract be sold and the proceeds to go into the general stock for division as before mentioned for the faithful performance of this my last will. I hereby appoint my beloved wife Mary Executrix jointly with my brother Pleasant Tyree Executor to fulfill the execution of this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.

The last will and testament of Richard C. Tyree dec'd was exhibited in open court for probate and
was duly proved agreeable to law by the oath of Reuben White one of the subscribing witnesses
there to and ordered to be accorded and thereupon Pleasant Tyree one of the Executors named in
said will appeared in court and entered into bond with Asahel W. Reese and Andrew Blythe his
securities in the sum of thirty thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs and took the oath of
Executor prescribed by law.
