I Rachel Looney of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee although weak in body, am of sound mind, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all former by me made

Item 1st: After my funeral charges is paid my will and desire is that my negro man Will shall continue on the farm until all the growing crop is housed and disposed of at which time I wish him to be valued by three? disinterested men to be elected by my Executors and when valued he (Will) to have the privilage of selecting his master at valuation.

Item 2nd: My will and desire is that my daughter Polly Looney shall _ the entire use of my negro woman (S)oocky? so long as she may think proper to stay on the plantation or keep her black family on the plantation and if at anytime my daughter Polly shall have the plantation and remove her black family, then and in that case my will and desire is that (S)oocky? shall be sold.

Item 3rd: I will and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Scoby one bed and some furniture

4th: I will and bequeath to my granddaughter Caroline Scoby one bed and some furniture -

5th: My will and desire is that my farming utensils, the growing crops of every description (except a lot of cotton and one of millet ) together with all my stock shall be sold as my executors may think proper, together with such other articles as have not been heretofore named.

Item 6th: My will and desire is that one half of the proceeds arising from the sale of the negroes and other articles herein mentioned shall be equally divided between my daughter Polly Looney and my son Jonathan D. Looney, and the other half to be equally divided between my two sons Isaac Looney and Edward C. Looney and my daughter-in-law Caroline Looney. I do hereby appoint Josiah Walton Executor of this my last will and Testament.

In testimony where of I have herewith set my hand and seal, this sixteenth day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirty five.

Sumner County Court November Term 1835

The last Will and Testament of Rachel Looney dec'd was exhibited in open court for probate and duly proved agreeable to Law by the oath of Charles Watkins and Jesse Gambling subscribing witnesses there to and ordained to be recorded, and this upon Josiah Walton the Executor named in said last will and Testament appeared in Court, and agreed to take upon himself the execution thereof and with E.C. Looney and Jesse Gambling his securities entered into and acknowledged their bond to the Governor in the final? sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars conditioned as the Law directs and took the oath of Executor proscribed by Law.
