Gallatin Tenn. Mch. 24th. 1888

Know all men by these presents, that I Martha L. Bass being of sound mind and memory do hereby declared and ordain this to be my last will and testament: viz;

Item 1st. I desire that all my property be sold on such terms as my executor may elect and disposed of as follows viz.

Item 2nd. When my executor shall collect the money from the sale of my property he shall first pay all my just debts including burial expenses, my physicians bills etc.

Item 3rd. Then whatever may remains I give and bequeath alone to my Daughter Annie Bass for separate special benefit.

Item 4th. I hereby appoint my brother Gentry Smith my executor to carry out my bequests and also to act as guardian for my Daughter.

I also empower him to take charge of what may be coming to my Daughter and use it for her benefit as he may see proper.
In witness whereof I affix my signature this day in presence of;

State of Tennessee
Sumner County Court August Term 1888. A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mrs. M. L. Bass dec'd, was on a former day of this Court produced in open Court for probate, and in common form proven by the oaths of A. J. Swaney and S. A. Gibson the subscribing witnesses thereto, when the same is ordered recorded: and Gentry Smith who is named in said will as the Executor [pg 435] thereto through his attorney S. A. Wilson and his father appeared in open Court and renounced the same. A Copy attest.
