In the name of God Amen:
I David Mahan Senr. of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee, being sick of body
but of perfect mind and disposing memory do this 8th day of October 1822 make and ordain this
my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say-
First
it is my will and desire that after my death my body to be decently buried.
Second
that all my just debts against me be paid, and _______ planned God to bless me with. I hereby
give and bequeath it in the following manner, that is to say-
First
the tract of land to my sons David and James Mahan. Also five notes _ _ _ _ _ _ (too faded to
read) and two dollars & 39 cents.
Secondly
I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Mahan my negro Girls Eliza and Nancy.
3rd
To my grandson David Cline (?) I give and bequeath my negro boy James to support said David
Cline during his life, after the death of David Cline to be equally divided between Sarah David
and James Mahan.
4th
I give and bequeath my _ his negro boy Isaac and Jonathan to David and James Mahan after they
pay John and Alexander Mahan and James Larkeys wife Elinda my daughter ten dollars each one
-- what I give and bequeath to them _ _ hold my kitchen furniture and my _ of all kinds I wish to
be sold for the purpose of paying my just debts that came against my estate the balance to be
equally divided between Sarah David & James Mahan.Exected to my last will and Testament. In
Testimony whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this day and date above mentioned.
