I, Jane Shepherd do make and publish this as my last will and testament.
Item 1st.
I give to my husband James Shepherd a life estate in my tract of land it being the land that was
conveyed to a trustee for my sole and seperate use by James N. McLin?? and upon which I now
reside.
Item 2nd.
I give to my sister Louvica W. Anderson the remainder interest in said land (to take effect at the
death of my husband James Shepherd) to her sole and seperate use free from the control and
liabilities of her present or any future husband. And in case my said sister should not be living at
the death of James Shepherd then I give the remainder in said land to the children of my said sister
Louvica W. [pg. 417] Anderson, and if any of Mrs. Anderson's children should be then dead
leaving children, said children shall represent their deceased parent.
Item 3rd.
I give to my sister Louvica W. Anderson my silver watch and silver spoons. I give all the balance
of my personal property to my husband James Shepherd.
This the 4 day of October 1878

A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Jane Shepherd dec;d, was
this day produced in open Court for probate and duly proven by the oaths of M. J. Walker one of
the subscribing witnesses thereto when it is received by the Court and ordered recorded.
