I, E. G. Patterson do make and publish this as my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making void all others by me at any time made.
First. I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys I may die possessed of or may come into the hands of my Executor. Second. It is my will and I do hereby give and bequeath to John L. Britton the home place on which I now live containing 350 acres upon the condition that he have three years in which to pay for it to be valued at $35 per acre. I further give and bequeath to John L. Britton two full shares in my whole estate.
Third. I give and bequeath to Bettie Landerdale my Beaurean,? Bedstead bed and washstand.
Fourth. I give to Rhoda $100.00 and to each of her daughters, Vallie, Alier, Polly and Pattie I give $50.00 and Rhoda's boy Dave I give him one good young horse.
Fifth. I do not give James Britton any thing be cause he is in better condition than the rest of my nephews and nieces.
Sixth. I give bequeath and devise my whole estate with the above exceptions and special bequests to the children of my brothers and sister or if they be dead then to their children to have what their parents would get if alive, Vizs. To Lee Ferress and Sallie Manson one share. Amelia Toliver one share, to Jane Doyle one share, Amelia Skiffington one share, Josiah Lauderdale one share, Mary and Samuel Roelack one share, Ben Lauderdale one share, Sy [pg 380] Landerdale one share, Winchester Landerdale one share, Bettie Landerdale one share, Lucy Kennedy one share, Clara Robb one share, John Landerdale one share, mary Seay one share and to Anne Taylor one share.
Seventh. I loaned my brother Wm. Landerdale one $1000. gold bond and it is my will that his children be charged with the payment of it and that it be deducted from their shares in equal proportions and they are to be charged not for the face value of said gold bond but with what it sold for.
Eighth. I loaned Clara Robb one $1000 gold bond and it is my will that she be charged with the value of said ? and that it be deducted from her individual share.
Ninth. I loaned John Landerdale $700.00 and I charge it to him and it is to be deducted from his share.
Tenth. I loaned Winchester Landerdale $500.00 and I charge it to and it is to be deducted from his share.
Eleventh. I loaned Sy Landerdale $600.00 and I charge it to him and it is to be deducted from his share.
Twelfth. I omitted to call out the name of Bettie Britton with the others, but it is my will that she have an equal share with the others and I now at this place make the correction and make her one of my legatees as the others.
Thirteenth. If any of those whom I have made beneficiaries in this my Will in any way become displeased and seek [pg 381] to cause trouble and expense in the division of my estate, it is my will that they have nothing at all, for I have tried to make them all equal.
I appoint John L. Britton my Executor

The last Will and Testament of Mrs. E. G. Patterson Dec'd, was this day produced in open
Court for Probate and was duly proven by the oaths of Chas B. Rogan and Billie Chenault,
subscribing witnesses thereto and the same is ordered to be recorded. J. L. Britton having been
appointed Executor in said Will appeared in open Court and accepted the same, and said J. L.
Britton together with his securities Geo. E. Seay, W. N. Turner, J. M. Bates, William Bates and
C. B. Rogan appeared in open Court and entered into and acknowledged their bond to the State
of Tennessee in the penal sum of Twenty five Thousand Dollars conditioned as the law directs,
and there upon said J. L. Britton was duly qualified and letters Testamentary ordered to issue to
him.
