In the name of God Amen: I Daniel Benthall of Sumner County and State of Tennessee being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed by God, do this day make and publish this my last will and testament in the following manner January 17th day 1797
First
I _ unto my beloved wife all my land and all my negroes one sorrel horse by the name of Jack, one
black mare, one gray mare, four beds and furniture and all my plantation _ and at the death of my
wife Susannah Benthall my will and desire is that all my estate shall be equally divided amongst all
my children _ Elizabeth Benthall, Charles Benthall, Francis Benthall, Mary Benthall with
Susannah Benthall to then and their heirs forever. Also my desire is that my cattle sorrel and white
horse shall be sold for the use of my children. I appoint my friend James Cryer my _ and _
Executor. In witness whereon I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal, this day and date
above mentioned.
