"I, E. R. Cryer, in view of the fact that I have joined a volunteer company to defend Southern rights, and may fall in defence of my country, do this day make and publish this, my last will and testament In consideration of the high admiration I have for R. C. Sanders, and the services he has rendered me gratuitously as preceptor, I give and bequeath to him all my Law Books, and all the rest of my plunder and chattels that I leave in the town of Hartsville. I desire the said C. R. Sanders to take possession of the same immediately upon my departure and use the same as he may see fit. I have five sisters, namely Elmore E. Anthony, Rachel J. Cryer, Martha A. Anglea, Elizabeth C. Anthony, and Mary C. Cryer. I have one brother, James A. Cryer, two nephews, the children of my deceased brother, Thomas C. Cryer, names Chesley Cryer and Hardy M. Cryer. I give and bequeath to each and all of my sisters, brother, and nephews all the balance of the books belonging to me. I make this bequest in consideration of the great love and affection I have for them. All the balance of the property belonging to me of every kind and character I give and bequeath to my sister Rachel I. Cryer. I make this bequest to her in consideration of the great love and affection I have for her. I hereby make R. C. Sanders my executor, and desire that he execute this my last will upon my death.
