I, A. J. Barrett of Sumner County Tennessee being of Sound mind and disposing memory, do
make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills heretofore
made by me.
Item 1st. I desire all my just debts to be paid, my doctors bills and funerals expenses out of the first monies that may come into the hands of my executor here after to be named.
Item 2nd. I will and bequeath to my sister Martha E. Cole, should she out-live me, all of my personal property of every description, monies, notes, accounts and choses in action, except a sufficient amount to pay off and discharge all my just debts as mentioned in item the 1st of this will, absolutely to do with as she may desire.
Item 3rd. I will and bequeath to my sister Martha E. Cole two tracts of land, during her natural life, should she survive me, the 1st tract contains fifty seven and one half acres and purchased by me from John Martin & wife said deed being registered in the registers Office of Sumner County Tenn., in Book No. 27 page 632, the 2nd tract contains thirty two acres and one Rood (Rod?), adjoining the 1st tract and was purchased by me from J. R. Barry, Clerk & Master, which deed is registered in the Registers Office in Sumner County Tenn. in Book No. 29 page 356 and for a more perfect description of said land reference is here made to said deeds.
Item 4th. It is my will that should my sister Martha E. Cole survive me, and at her death I desire all of my real estate to be sold, and out of the proceeds of the sale, I will and bequeath to my niece Ann Cole, daughter of Martha E. Cole two thousands dollars in money, and if there should be any thing remaining the same shall be divided between my brothers and sisters equally. Should any of my brothers and sisters be dead and leave children then & in that event the children shall take [pg 114] their father's or mother's share equally.
Item 5. It is my will that in case my sister Martha E. Cole die before I do, that my executor will sell all my estate, both personal and real, and out of the proceeds thereof to pay to my niece Ann Cole the sum of two thousand dollars to be hers absolutely and the remainder if any to be distributed as bequeathed to my brothers & sisters or their representatives as set out in Item 4th of this will.
Item 6th I nominate and appoint my friend and neighbor R. G. Gillispie my Executor.

A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of A. J. Barrett dec'd, was this
day produced in open Court for probate, when the same was duly proven by the oath of T. C.
Mulligan, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, there being no contest, when the same was
ordered recorded and filed as the last Will and Testament of A. J. Barrett deceased.
