The first book of a literary character published in Nashville or in Middle Tennessee was "Clark's Miscellany," a small volume of prose and verse, published by Bradford in 1812. Its author was Isaac Clark, a citizen of Sumner County. He was a lawyer and was a candidate for Congress about 1810, but was defeated.
