I John Parsons of the County and State aforesaid considering the uncertainty of the mortal life and being of sound mind and memory blessed be God for the same Do make and publish this my last will & testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills of me at any time made. First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after death as possible and of any money that I may also possessed of or may also come into the hands of my executors. Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah E. Parsons my Mansion House wherein I now live and that all my land shall remain in common equally between my wife Sarah E. Parsons, Lucinda E. Hamilton, James N. Parsons, John B. Parsons, Sarah E. Parsons and Dixon H. Parsons, and that after all the concerns of my estate and debts are settled up, this above mentioned land to be sold with the consent of Sarah E. Parsons my wife and Lucinda E. Hamilton, James N. Parsons and John B. Parsons and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided the Iep. above mentioned Heirs. Thirdly I direct that all my Negroes (to wit) Patsy, Lucy, Ned, Ely, Handy, Cuty, Harry, Emaline, King, Calvin, Mary and Harry and Rhoan be equally divided in lots between Sarah E. Parsons my wife and Lucinda E. Hamilton James N. Parsons John B. Parsons Sarah E. Parsons and Dixon H. Parsons to be divided as soon as possible after its sale of my property herein after mentioned. Fourthly I direct that all my stack consisting of Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Hogs together with all my household and kitchen furniture farming utensils wagon and shop tools be sold and the proceeds thereof equally divided between the six above mentioned Heirs. Fifthly I give and bequeath to my son William C. Parsons twenty four dollars to be paid of my executors and of my estate. Sixthly I do here in nominate and appoint James N. Parsons guardian for my younger children to wit Sarah E. Parsons and Dixon H. Parsons minor Heirs. Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint Josiah Baldridge and Claybourn Hamilton my executors.
I witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this 20th day of December in the year of our Lord 1842.
