Note: This is the transcript of the original inventory and sale on the estate of Josiah Lockett.
Josiah who died 16 Sep 1840 on his home site near Belote's Bend ... about 2 miles south of
Castalian Springs. Ginsey / Jency (Jeter) Lockett, his widow, did the inventory and sale that
following November. Gincey died 19 June 1861 and is buried near Josiah. They are in two
separate small Lockett burial plots. Josiah and one daughter Polly (Lockett) Roberts are buried in
low lying ground near the river. Ginsey and another daughter Winnifred Lockett are buried about
1/2 mile distant up on a hill top. Family tradition says that the low lying ground where Josiah was
buried was prone to flooding ..... and that when Ginsey died she wanted to be buried on higher
ground.
