William S. Payne (son of Robert Payne and Sarah Beard) was born 1 July 1827 Sumner Co. TN. He died between 1892 and 1893. William married 1st to Lucy Jane AUSTIN (daughter of Dickerson D. AUSTIN and Emily Berry ANDERSON). Lucy was born abt. 1836 in Tn and died October 18, 1876 in Sumner County, Tn.

William S. Payne married 2nd to Gillie Ann Hite (daughter of John Hite and Sarah Elizabeth Burns). Gillie Anne Hite was born 1826 in Logan Co., KY. Her death date is unknown. Gillie Ann married Pleasant Perry Babb on 10 June 1845 in Robertson Co. Tn. Pleasant Babb died 5 April 1879 in Robertson Co., Tn.

William S. Payne and Gillie Ann (Hite) Babb were married 31 August 1881 in Sumner County, Tn.

1. George Wesley Payne born 14 Jan 1854 in Sumner County, Tn. He died 30 March 19443 in Henderson Co., Ky. George married 1st to Sallie A. Martin on 9 Jan 1878 to Sallie A. Martin (daughter of John F. Martin and Sarah McKendree) was born 9 Jan 1854 in Tn. She died 13 Jul 1899 in Sumner Co. Tn. George married 2nd to Julie Adaline "Georgie" Watwood on 5 April 1905. Julia A. "Georgie Watwood (daughter of Isaac F. Watwood and Ila White Perdue) was born 31 May 1864. She died 2 July 1940.

2. Josephus W. Payne born 12 Sept 1855 in Sumner County, Tn. He died 27 Dec 1935 in Simpson Co., Ky. Josephus married Mary Frances Faullin on 11 Jan 1877. Mary Frances Faullin (daughter of Redmond Faullin and Sally Edwards) was born 5 May 1859 in Sumner Co., Tn. She died 22 Aug 1919 in Simpson Co., Ky.
