Risdon D. Moore born 11-18-1791 in Guilford County, N.C. Risdon married Mary Arseneth Mitchell on 1-14-1811 in Rockingham County, N.C. Arseneth Mitchell is the daughter of Leavin Mitchell and Nancy Polk. Arseneth was born in 1796 in Rockingham Co. N.C. and died in 1882 in Sumner Co. TN. To view a photo of Ridson Moore Click here.

Risdon D. Moore died in 1868 in Sumner Co., TN. Both Risdon and Arseneth are buried in the Moore Cemetery behind a house in a family cemetery on College St. in Portland, Sumner Co., TN.

In 1812 or 1813, Risdon and Arseneth moved to Sumner Co., TN. Risdon taught school sessions at the Nolan School House. He was also a surveyor and a register of the county when he died. Arseneth was a devoted member of the Christian Church.

1. Eliza Ann Moore born 1813 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Married Benjamin Jackson of Kentucky on 12-3-1856 in Sumner Co., TN. Eliza died in 1867. They were childless.

2. Nancy Dent Moore born 1815 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Died young.

3. Maria Louisa Moore born 1817 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Died in Sumner Co., TN in 1881. Never married.

4. Marcus Lafayette Moore born 1819 Warren Co., Kentucky. Married c. 1842 to Martha J. Litzy.

5. Hiram Mitchell Moore born 1-22-1822 in Sumner Co., TN. Married Eliza Ann Rebecca Ellis on 8-23-1845 in Todd Co., Kentucky. For more information see below.

6. Adeline Moore born 1824 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Died young.

7. Cincinnatus Moore born 1826. Died young.

8. William Polk Moore, Sr., born 4-29-1829. Married 1st to Amanda Dickey. Married 2nd to Mary "Mollie" Jane Duval. For more information see below.

10. Thomas Benton Moore born 1834 Sumner Co., TN. Married 1st Isabel Austin on 3-8- 1856 in Sumner Co., TN. Married 2nd to Mary Ann Williams on 1-7-1861 in Sumner Co. TN. For more information see below.

Hiram Mitchell Moore (son of Risdon D. Moore and Mary Arseneth Mitchell ) was born January 22, 1822 in Sumner Co., TN. He married Elizabeth Ann Rebecca Ellis. Elizabeth Ann Rebecca was the daughter of John & Ann Ellis of Todd Co., Kentucky. Hiram became an M.D. and went to school at the University of Nashville. He lived in Mitchellville, TN, Gallatin, TN., and eventually practiced medicine and lived in Cross Plains, TN.

Issue:

1. Robert Ellis Moore born 3-17-1848. He died 6-14-1902. Buried in Moore Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN.
2. Arabel Moore (Belle) born c. 1853.

William Polk Moore, Sr., (son of Risdon D. Moore and Mary Arseneth Mitchell ) was born April 29, 1829. Died June 23, 1901. He is buried in Moore Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN. He married 1st to Amanda Dickey. Amanda Dickey died June 21, 1864. William married 2nd to Mary (Mollie) Jane Duval on 6-22-1865 in Sumner Co., TN. William Polk Moore was an M.D. of Portland, TN. and graduated from the University of Nashville, TN.

2. Risdon Dickey Moore born 1-11-1859. Died 7-31-1928. Buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN.
3. Guilford Smith Moore born 4-24-1861.

2. Oliver Duval Moore born 11-20-1867 (Twin). Died 12-12-1937. Buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN.
3. Hiram Mitchell Moore born 11-20-1867 (Twin). Died 1-23-1946. Buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN.

Jerome Egburt Moore (son of Risdon D. Moore and Mary Arseneth Mitchell ) was born November 24, 1831 in Sumner Co., TN. He died June 30, 1919 of a broken hip and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, TN. Jerome married Rebecca M. Litzy in May of 1853. Rebecca died of paralysis on May, 9, 1910. She is also buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, TN. Jerome studied medicine with his brothers at the University of Nashville and became a M.D. He and Rebecca lived in Blackjack, TN.

Thomas Benton Moore (son of Risdon D. Moore and Mary Arseneth Mitchell ) was born 1834 Sumner Co., TN. He died in 1906. Married 1st Isabel Austin on March 8, 1856 in Sumner Co., TN. Isabel Austin was the daughter of John and Rhoda Austin. She was born February 12, 1836 in Sumner Co., TN. She died July 17, 1859 in Sumner Co., TN. Isabel is buried in Austin Cemetery, New Deal, Sumner Co., TN. Thomas Moore married 2nd to Mary Ann Williams on January 7, 1861 in Sumner Co. TN. She was the daughter of Josephus and Emily Jane Robertson. Mary was born in 1840. She died in 1921, Mulloy, Robertson Co. TN. Thomas and Mary are buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN. Thomas was a farmer. He and Mary Ann were members of the McKendree Memorial Methodist Church in Portland, TN.
