The patriarch of the Mince family that settled in the corner of Trousdale, Smith, and Sumner Counties was James Mintz of North Carolina. A son of William Mintz, James was born about 1790 in NC, and died between 1850 and 1860. He married Ruth Parris, the daughter of David and Mary Marr Parris.

William Mince was born October 30, 1822 in NC. William first married Sarah Banks, the daughter of James M. Banks, on March 3, 1850 in Habersham Co., GA. His second marriage was to Mary 'Martha' West on July 2, 1871 in Smith Co., TN, she being the daughter of Rubin West and Midia Bryant. William died in Smith Co., TN on September 26, 1902.

William and Sarah had five children all of whom were born in GA: Martha A. b. 1852 Miles b. 1856, John b. Abt. 1859, Elenda A. b. 1862 and their youngest, George Lee "Big Pap" Mince was born on August 6, 1866 in Georgia.

George Lee married Eliza Jane Seymore Gregory on February 27, 1886 in Smith Co., TN. She was the daughter of Robert Gregory and Mary Gregory. "Big Pap" died January 16, 1939 in Sumner County and was buried in Bethpage Cemetery, Bethpage, Sumner County, TN where his wife, Eliza, was also buried.

Their children were:

1. William Robert "Bobby" was born December 11, 1886 and died November 26, 1951.

2. Alta Lee Mince, was born April 6, 1891. On January 31, 1909, she married John Grizzle in Trousdale Co., TN.

3. James Henry "Jim" was born June 3, 1893, Trousdale Co., TN and died January 6, 1972, Sumner County, TN. He married Lilly Narcie Denney on October 5, 1913 in Willow Grove Methodist Church, Trousdale Co., TN. They are buried in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Gallatin, Sumner County, TN.

4. Mary Eliza was born April 26, 1895, Sumner Co., TN and died March 23, 1984, Sumner Co., TN. She married John Madison Fuqua January 5, 1913 in Trousdale Co.,TN, son of George Fuqua and Sarah Flatt. The couple are buried in Bethpage Cemetery.

5. Lewis Lowe was born January 1, 1898. He married Mary Ada Shrum on December 25, 1916 in Trousdale Co., TN. Lewis' occupation was preacher. He died December 11, 1963. The couple are buried in the Bethpage Cemetery in Bethpage, Sumner County, TN.

6. Ethel was born July 7, 1900 in Sumner Co., TN. She married William Howard Fuqua October 7, 1916 in Trousdale Co., TN, son of George Fuqua and Sarah Flatt. Ethel died February 28, 1981; the two were buried in Bethpage Cemetery.

7. Grover was born March 1, 1902. He married Emma Preuitt March 7, 1924 in Trousdale Co., TN. He died June 15, 1940. Grover is buried in Bethpage Cemetery, and Emma is buried in Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL.

8. Mattie Louvenia, born November 11, 1904 in Smith Co. TN. On March 28, 1920, She married James Ernest Manning.

9. Georgia Neal was born June 5, 1906. She married first Oscar Thompson August 1924. Her second marriage was to Oscar Reed on June 8, 1935. Georgia died on January 17, 1993. She is buried in the Bethpage Cemetery.

William Robert "Bobby" Mince was the eldest son of "Big Pap" and Eliza Jane Mince. He was born December 11, 1886. He first married Julia Florence Leath on December 29, 1907 in Macon Co., TN. She was the daughter of Thomas Leath and Eliza Nichols. His second marriage was to Letha Gregory in 1943 in Sumner Co., TN. Bobby Mince died November 26, 1951 and was buried in Bethpage Cemetery in Sumner Co., TN where his first wife, Julia Florence Leath is also buried.

Children of William Mince and Julia Leath had the following children:

1. Sallie Lorene b. October 19, 1908, Trousdale Co., TN. She married Elliot Lauderdale on January 24, 1932 and died July 29, 1967. She is buried in Bradley Cemetery in Bethpage, Sumner County, TN.

2. Willie Buford was born June 19, 1911 and died October 6, 1976. He is buried in the Bethpage Cemetery in Bethpage, Sumner County, TN.

3. Opal Erlene was born December 29, 1912 in Trousdale County, TN On January 29, 1931, she married Jesse James Lewis Tuttle. She died July 19, 1969. She and her husband were buried in Bethpage Cemetery, Bethpage, Sumner County, TN.

4. Nellie Mae was born February 8, 1915 in Trousdale County, TN. She married Hurlie Ellis O'Neal on December 25, 1930. She was buried in Bethpage Cemetery.

5. Eddie Gaston was born March 7, 1917 in Trousdale Co., TN. He was married to Jewel Bernice Lynn on January 19, 1939 in Sumner County, TN. On January 16, 1993, he passed away in Sumner Co., TN. He was buried in the Bethpage Cemetery in Sumner County, TN

6. Mary Lee was born August 3, 1919 in Trousdale Co., TN. She married Joseph Vance Byrd on December 24, 1938. On January 10, 1996, she passed away. The couple were buried in Bethpage Cemetery.

7. Floyd Ray was born October 1, 1922 in Sumner Co., TN. He married Lovie Dixie Taylor on August 30, 1947 in Franklin, KY. Floyrd served in the Navy during WWII as a Cook Third Class. He joined the Navy on February 29, 1944, took his training at Bainbridge, MD, Ft. Pierce, FL, Camp Bradford, Norfolk, VA, and the Training Center at Great Lakes, IL. During the war, he was stationed aboard the USS LST 623 and spent most of the war in the Phillipines. He received the American Theatre Meadal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, the Phillipine Liberation Medal, two Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal. He was discharged May 16, 1946 at the separation center in Memphis, TN. He died May 23, 1991 in Kokomo, IN. He and his wife, Lovie, were buried in the Bethpage Cemetery in Sumner County, TN.

8. Loyd Raymond was born October 1, 1922 in Sumner Co., TN. He married Eva Nell Brooks on March 15, 1947. He died on April 19, 1970. He was buried in Bethpage Cemetery.

9. Gladys Neal was born June 14, 1924 in Sumner Co., TN. She married Russell "Shine" Meador on February 28, 1947. She died October 11, 1981 and was buried in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Gallatin, Sumner County, TN. Her husband, Russell is buried in Bethpage Cemetery.
