Lewis Crain (Crane)
Lewis Crain was born in 1761 or 1762 in Va or SC. His mothers name was Elizabeth. He died 7 Sept 1827 in Sumner County.
Along with Amos Eaton, and his father-in-Law, Isaac Lindsey, Lewis Crain was one of the advance scouts who founded Eatons Station (Heaton's Station). Eaton, Lindsey, Lewis Crain, his brother John Crain , and his step father Moses Winters, had all served in the "Rear Guard of the Revolution" during the Revolutionary War. John Crain and Moses Winters settled near Coopertown in Robertson County. Lewis Crain's 640 acres lay in Sandy Bend of the Cumberland river.

Susannah married her second cousin, William C. Crain, and had 4 sons by him. William died 3 months prior to the birth of his last son, William Lindsey Crain, in 1816. Susannah later married Henry Wright in 1820 and in about 1828 they relocated to Washington County, Illinois. After the Civil War 3 of the boys, John, Lewis Wesley, and William L relocated to LaBette County, Ks. The fourth boy, Isaac Newton Crain, relocated to Higginsville, MO. The decendents of these 4 boys still hold regular reunions and are located in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
