Descendants of John Crenshaw
1. JOHN CRENSHAW,-- the son of DABNEY CRENSHAW, a native of Virginia -- was born in 1814 in KY, and died in 1882 in Sumner County. TN. As a young man he moved to Sumner County, TN, where he married ELIZA ANN CRENSHAW on December 03, 1845. She was born in 1823 in Sumner County and died in March 1881 in Sumner County. John was a tenant farmer before purchasing a 200-acre farm with one of the oldest houses in Sumner County. The farm, purchased in 1850, was located about two miles northeast of Castalian Springs. John was a man of limited education but good business ability, and was a magistrate for many years. Both John and Eliza were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and were held in high esteem in the community.

2.1 1. ORIANNA G.2 CRENSHAW (JOHN1) was born May 28, 1848 in Sumner County, TN and died January 09, 1933 at the home of her daughter in Gallatin, TN. She married DANIEL J. HARPER, the son of BENJAMIN S. HARPER and NANCY JANE TINSLEY of Sumner County, in Sumner County about 1873. Oria, as she was called, was a schoolteacher and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Daniel was born in 1832 in Sumner County and died in 1885 in Trousdale County, TN. Daniel is buried with his first wife (Priscilla A. Hale, daughter of Cyrus Hale) in the Hale-Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County. Orianna is buried in the Gallatin Cemetery.

2.2 1. DABNEY CRENSHAW (JOHN1) was born about 1850 in Sumner County. He married SUSAN BROWNING in October of 1872.

3.2 EUGENE ST. CLARE4 HARPER (ORIANNA G.2 CRENSHAW, JOHN1) was born December 27, 1874 in Sumner County, TN and died on August 31, 1913 in Nashville, TN from injuries sustained in an accident. He married MINNIE MARGARET DICKENSON, daughter of EPHRAIM DICKENSON and BLANCHE WHITESIDE of Sumner County, on September 22, 1901. Gene, as he was called, was a carpenter prior to his marriage, and at the time of his death, he was a collection agent for a Nashville furniture store. Minnie was born March 13, 1874 in Sumner County and died June 26, 1968 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Both are buried in the Gallatin Cemetery. Together they had five children.
