This Indenture made this twelfth day of July eighteen hundred & twelve between Robert Bruce of
the County of Sumner & State of Tennessee of the one part & John Boyle of the other part
Witnesseth that the said Robert Bruce for & in consideration of the sum of three hundred Dollars
to him in hand paid by the said John Boyle the Receipt whereof the said Robert Bruce doth hereby
acknowledge he the said Robert Bruce hath granted bargained & sold alieved & confirmed & by
these presents doth grant bargain & sell alieve & confirm unto the said John Boyle his heirs &
assigns forever all that messuage of land lying & being in the County & state aforesaid on the
Sulphur lick fork of Drakes creek of Barron River Joining Capt. William Alderson Wm Dinning
and the state line bounded as follows: Beginning at a sugartree and Hackberry thence West one
hundred & fourteen and one third poles to a black oak thence North one hundred & forty poles to
the Kentucky line thence East with said line one hundred & fourteen & one third poles to a stake
thence South one hundred & forty poles to the Beginning containing one hundred acres and
appurtenances whatsoever to the said messuage and lands above mentioned belonging or any wise
appertaining & all the Estate Right title Interest claims and demand
whatsoever of him the said Robert Bruce of, in & to the said messuage & every part thereof. To
have and to hold the said messuage and all & singular the premises above mentioned & every part
& parcel thereof. To have and to hold the messuage & all & singular premises above mentioned &
every part & parcel thereof with the appurtenances
unto the said John Boyle his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of the said John
Boyle his heirs & assigns forever and the said Robert Bruce for him & his heirs the said messuage
and every part thereof against him & his heirs & against all & every other person and persons
whatsoever to the said John Boyle his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend by
these presents. In witness whereof the said Robert Bruce hath hereunto set his hand and affixed
his seal the day and date above written.

State of Tennessee Sumner County Court August Term 1815 --
The within deed of bargain & sale between Robert Bruce of the one part & John Boyle of the
other part for 100 acres of land was duly acknowledged in open Court by the said Robert Bruce
the bargainor and ordered to be Registered.--- A Copy Test
