This indenture made this 12th day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred____Thomas Patton of the county of Sumner & state of Tennessee of the one part and Robert Patton of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Wittnesseth that the said Thos Patton for & in consideration of the sum of $100 to him in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have given, granted, bargained & sold & by this presence doth give grant bargain & sell convey & confirm unto the said Robert Patton, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the county and state aforesaid on the waters of Sinking creek & bounded as follows. Beginning at an ash and sugar tree running thence west with John Wilson's line 146 poles to a honey locust thence south 27 poles to a stake, thence west 45 poles & 15 links to a black oak, thence south to James Vinsons line 45 poles and 15 links to a stake thence east 45 poles and 15 links to a hickory tree in said vinson's corner. Thence north 16 poles to a mulberry tree thence east 146 poles to a stake thence north to the beginning containing 63 acres 50 of said acres was granted to Henry Houdeshell by letters patent bearing the date 17th day of April 1786. & convey to the said Thos Patton by deed bearing the date the 17th day of April 1789 the other 13 acres was granted to Jas. Clendening by letters patent dated the year 1786 & conveyed to Henry Vinson by deed bearing the date in 1791 & conveyed to the said Thos Patton by said Vinson the 10th day of January 1794. To have & to hold the aforesaid 63 acres of land with the appurtinances thereto belonging or appertaining unto the said Robert Patton his heirs executors administrators & assigns forever. and the Thos Patton for himself his heirs executors and administrators will warrant and forever defend said land from the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Thomas Patton hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written. Thomas Patton (seal)
