Deeds concerning Philip Kizer, with a couple in Davidson Co while he was living in
Sumner.
James Hodge
November 2nd 1797
This Indenture made the second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety seven between Philip Kiser of the County of Sumner and State of
Tennessee of the one part & James Hodge of the County of Davidson and state aforesaid of the
other part. Witnesseth that the said Philip Kiser for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen
hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said James Hodge at and before the ensealing &
delivering of these presents with the receipt whereof he the said Philip Kiser Doth hereby
acknowledge himself satisfied contented and paid hath & by these presents Doth give grant
bargain
sell, alien demise release convey & confirm unto the said James Hodge his heirs and
assignes forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing six hundred & forty acres of land
situated lying and being in the County of Davidson & State aforesaid. On the waters of Little
Harpeth beginning at a BoxElder & Dogwood corner to a 274 acre tract in Samuel McCutchen's
line runs with his line west crossing the left hand trace from Johnstons lick at thirty chains and a
branch seventy chains to a White Oak then North ninety one chains & fifty links to an Ash then
East seventy chains to a stake then south ninety one & fifty links to the Beginning. To have and to
hold the above granted& bargained premises with the appurtenances and hereditaments thereon
and thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining with all and singular the benefits &
emoluments thereunto and therefrom to arise unto him the said James Hidge his heirs and assigns
to the only proper use benefit & behoof forever and the said Philip Kiser for himself his heirs
Executors &Administrators doth hereby covenant grant and agree to and with the said James
Hodge his heirs& assigns, that unto him and them he and they the land and premises hereby
intended to be conveyed he and his aforesaid will warrant and forever defend unto the said James
Hodge & his aforesaid, against the lawful claim and demand of all & every person or persons
whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Philip Kiser have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal the day and year first above

The execution of which deed of conveyance as above recited was in court held for the
county Davidson Oct session 1797 proven to be the act & deed of the said Philip Kizer by the
oath
of Andrew Ewing a subscribing witness thereto.
