I Benjamin Roney have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to James Pitt and his heirs forever for the consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars for which his notes have this day been esecuted [sic] for the same under Seal a tract of land in the State of Tennessee Sumner & Robertson Counties, District No.18 in Sumner & 11 in Robertson containing by estimation Sixty Six acres be the same more of less & bounded as follows: Beginning at a Stake on the South boundary line of the old James Roney tract now owned by the heirs of S.H. Turner decd on the middle of the old road leading from Louisville to Nashville running thence West to a black oak thence South to Thomason Baldridge's line thence East with said line crossing the Pike to a black gum thence North with the old Road to the beginning, to have and to hold the same to the said James Pitt his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said James Pitt that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land and my part thereof to the said James Pitt his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. Given under my hand & seal this 8th day of October 1849.

Personally appeared before me Wm S. Munday Clerk of the County Court of said County Benjamin Roney the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the above and within Deed for the purposes therein contained. Witness my hand at Office this 9th day of October 1849.
