This indenture made and entered into this 11 day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand
Eight hundred and Thirty Six between Jeremiah Starks of the one part & Thornton Starks of the
other part both of the County of Sumner & State of Tennessee. Witneseth, that for & in
consideration of the sum of One Thousand five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said
Thornton Starks before the sealing and signing hereof the receipt thereof is hereby
acknowledged. I have this day bargained sold consigned and confirmed unto the said Thornton
Starks his heirs or assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County &
State aforesaid, on the waters of Turneys Branch and bounded as follows: beginning at a white
oak on the North edge of the road leading from Nashville to Gallatin, thence South 73-1/2
degrees East two hundred and twenty four poles to a white oak stump in Mill Old line thence
North with said line twenty seven poles to a mulberry, thence North 471/2 degrees West eighty
six poles to a tripple mulberry, thence South 59 degrees West one hundred and seventy seven
poles to the Beginning containing by estimation one hundred and eleven acres be the same more
or less, which before described land & tenements together with all the appertinances thereunto
belonging. I do hereby bind myself my heirs & to warrant and forever defend a good and
sufficient title in fee simple unto the said Thornton Starks his heirs & against the claim of any
person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal the day and date above written, signed sealed and delivered in presence of

The within deed of Bargain and Sale from Jeremiah Stark to
Thornton Stark for One hundred and eleven acres of land was duly presented by the Oaths of
James M. Gray and Susannah Sample subscribing witnesses thereto this 6th day of April
1837.
