TRANSCRIPT J. T. RIGGSBEE ET AL TO E(merson) GILBERT
For and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty Dollars, two hundred and seventy five dollars to us paid and one note of Seventy five dollars given this day it being the 21 day of Dec AD 1893 due Dec 21, 1895 said note bears interest from date we retain a lien on said land til paid for. We J. T. Riggsbee wife A. L. Riggsbee have bargained and sold, and by these presents do transfer and convey unto the said E. Gilbert his heirs and assigns, a certain tract of parcel of land in Dis. No. 15 Sumner County, State of Tennessee, as follows: Beginning on a rock in R.D. Link line J.R. Cole south West corner, thence N 4 E 103 1/5 poles to a rock, thence N 87 W 61 ½ poles to a rock, thence S 4 ½ W 103 1/5 poles to a rock in the Cross Plains and Fountain Head road in R.D. Link line, thence with said road S 87 E 62 ¾ poles to the beginning, contain 40 acres be the same more or less. We retain the prsnt crop of wheat
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with the appurtenances, estate, title and interest thereto belonging, to the said E.Gilbert and his heirs and assigns forever. And We J.T. Riggsbee wife do covenant with the said E. Gilbert that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said land in fee-simple, have a good right to convey it, and the same is unincumbered. And we J. T. Riggsbee wife do further covenant title to aid land to the said E. Gilbert and his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.

Personally appeared before me, James W. Link a Notary Public in and for said County and State, the within named J. T. Riggsbee the bargainor, with whom I am personally acqainted, and who acknowledged that he executed the within Deed instrument for the purposed therein contained. And A. L Riggsbee wife of the said J.T. Riggsbee having personally appeared febore me, privately and apart from her busband, the said A. L. Riggsbee acknowledged the execution of said Deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily, and understandingly, without compulsion or constraint from her said husband, and for the purposes therein expressed.
