TRANSCRIPT WILLIAM JOHNSON TO SAMUEL GILBERT

I William Johnson have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Samuel Gilbert and his heirs forever for the consideration of one hundred and fifty nine dollars, to me paid, a tract of land in the State of Tennessee, Sumner County, and District No. ___ containing by estimation thirty eight acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as follows: Beginning on the center of the Turnpike, J. D. Young South boundary line thence running East with said line, to a beach at the mouth of John Dunningtons Spring Branch, thence West with Dunningtons line to a large doube white oak, thence Sourth with Dunningtons line thirty seven poles to a stake, thence West with Dunningtons line seventy seven ¾ poles to a stake, thence South to Thomas Armstrongs North East corner a stake on said Duningtons West boundary line, thence West with said Armstrong’s line to the center of the Turnpike, thence with the center of said turnpike North to the beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said Samuel Gilbert, his heirs and assigns forever, I do covenant with the said S. Gilbert, that I am lawfully seized of said land, have good right to convey it and that the same is unincumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself, my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land, and any part thereof, to the said Gilbert, his heirs, and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever this 9th day of March 1844.
