TRANSCRIPT JOHN GILBERT TO HARRIS ODAM 140 ACRES & 54 POLES
This Indenture made and entered into on the twenty sixth day of December in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and twenty three between John Gilbert of Sumner County and State of Tennessee of the one part and Harris Odam of the County of Davidson & State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said John Gilbert for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Harris Odam the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith fully satisfied & paid hath bargained sold aliened enfrfsed & confirmed and doth by the presents bargain sell alien infers and confirm unto the said Harris Odam his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying in Sumner County aforesaid including the said John Gilberts house & improvements. Beginning at a hickory No. East corner of said tract running West one hundred & Twelve poles to a hickory and black ash Andrew McGlothins NoEast corner thence with said McGlothins line 268 poles to a stake on William Hobdy No. boundary line, thence N 31 East 96 poles, thence 41 East 11 poles to a small black oak, thence No. 75 East 16 poles to a hickory on Benjamin Latimers West boundary line thence ? N sd West with said Latimers & William Hobdys line 179 poles to the Beginning, Containing one hundred and forty acres and 54 poles of land. To have and to hold the above described land & premises with all the appurtances to him the said Harris Odam his heirs & assigns forever. And the said John Gilbert doth further by these presents bind himself his Heirs Executors & Administrators to forever warrant & defend the title to the said land and premises in forever of the said Harris Odam his Heirs and assigns Executors & Administrators against the or title of all and any other person or persons whatsoever.
