This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of July one thousand eight Hundred and ninteen between John Gilbert of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and Wm. Hobdy of the County and State of aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Gilbert for and in consideration of the sum of eighty Dollars to him in hand paid by sd Wm. Hobdy the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargined sold assinged conveyed and confirmed unto the sd Wm Hobdy his heirs and assings forever a certain tract and parcel of land situae lying & being in the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee on the western drain of the Sulphur lick fork of Drakes Ceek of Barron River, Beginning at a black oak on the division line between John Gilbert & Wm. Hobdy thence running east 108 poles to small balck oak thence north tirty one degrees east twenty six poles to a stake thence West thirteen degrees South 124 poles to a black oak the beginning containing seven acres and 131 poles it being a part of a one thousand acre tract granted to John Gwin by the State of Tennessee reference thereunto had with more fully appear to have and to hold the before described land & premisis with all and singular the right profits emotiments hereditaments and appurtances of in and to the same belonging and any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Wm. Hobdy his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Gilbert for himself his executors and administrators doth covenant and agree to and with the said William Hobdy his heirs or assigns that the before recited land and bargained premesis he will warrant and forever defend against the right title interest or claim of all and every person or persons whatever. In Witness whereof I the said John Gilbert hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written signed sealed and deliverred I presence of us.
