Lydia Gillespie Durham, wife of James, was related to George Gillespie, evidently his granddaughter (crossed off and niece hand written above). George Gillespie, according to his Bible records came to Sumner County, Tennessee from Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina sometime between 1790 and 1800. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, having fought in the battles of Guilford Court House and Kings Mountain.
