Anglea was one of four brothers that, according to family legend, migrated into the eastern part of Sumner County, Tennessee some time prior to 1820. His parents are at present, unknown. According to the U. S. Census records, James was born in Virginia (probably Cumberland County, Virginia).

James married Susannah Briley on August 3, 1824 in Sumner County. They settled in the Castalian Springs community of Sumner County and raised a fair sized family. To this day, there are descendants of James and Susannah living in the Castalian Springs community and surrounding area.

James and Susannah died in the mid 1860's and they and several of their descendants are buried in the Anglea Cemetery near Castalian Springs. Descendants of this family gather in the Fall, every years, to have a reunion at or near this cemetery.
