According to census records of Sumner County, Tennessee, and an old family bible, Andrew Anglea/Angel was born in Virginia on May 26, 1790. It is believed that he was the son of either William Anglea or James Anglea of Cumberland County, Virginia and the brother of Walter, James and John Anglea/Angel. If this assumption is true, based on documents found in the Cumberland County, Virginia court records and deeds, he is the grandson of William Angeley/Anglea who at one time owned land in Hanover County, Virginia and later migrated to Goochland County, Virginia and acquired land that was later part of Cumberland County, Virginia.

Andrew Anglea was married to Frances Charlton, daughter of Samuel Charlton and Nancy (Anglea) Charlton, on Dec. 25, 1815 in Cumberland County, Virginia. Frances's grandparents were Abraham and Elizabeth Charlton also of Cumberland County, Virginia. Andrew and Frances (Charlton) Anglea were listed as heirs of Samuel Charlton, deceased, in Sumner County, Tennessee and Cumberland County, Virginia records dated 1819. The record related to transfer of Samuel Charlton's property and his last residence of Sumner County, Tennessee.

Andrew was listed in the 1820 Census of Sumner County, Tennessee with his wife and one male child less than 10 years old. On October 10, 1822 he purchased 33 acres of land from Humphrey Bate bounding lands of Bate and John Bearden with an agreement to sell land back to Bate if he ever decided to get rid to it.

Andrew Anglea disappeared from the U.S. Census Records after 1820. However, he was still living in 1842 because there is a Church record of him in the Hillsdale Baptist Church Records of Macon County, Tennessee. His wife, Frances (Fanny) was listed in the 1840 and 1850 Census of Sumner County, Tennessee. There is no record of a divorce between Frances and Andrew so the diverging paths of Frances and Andrew is unexplainable at this time.

On June 10, 1825, Andrew sold his land on the waters of Bledsoe Lick Creek back to Humphrey Bate, from whom it had originally been purchased in 1822. In July of 1825, there were court judgements against Andrew for debts to Abraham Charlton and W. Tombs. ON November 23, 1827, Andrew, Frances (his wife) and Abraham Charlton sold 70 acres of land that they had inherited from Samuel Charlton, located on waters of Rocky Creek, to John Banks for $350.00. On January 4, 1836, there was a court judgement against Andrew for debt to John Bearden in Sumner County, Tennessee. It appears that Andrew may have been a tenant farmer. Court records indicated that Andrew owed Bearden several bushels of corn. This probably was Bearden's share of the years harvest.

In 1842, there was a Macon County, Tennessee church record of the Hillsdale Baptist Church granting Andrew Angel membership in the Church. This is the last official record of Andrew Anglea/Angel that has been found. No records have been found indicating Andrew's date of death or where he lived after 1842.

According to family legend and stories handed down to me by my aunt Mallie T. (Anglea) Lovell (d. 1991 at age of 102), my great-grandfather, Robert Allen Anglea, married his first cousin, Cynthia Frances Anglea. Cynthia, according to references in their family bible (which I have in my possession), was the daughter of Andrew Anglea). This indicates that Walter/Walthell and Andrew were brothers.
