Thanks to Transcription by Janice Beeler Able and proofreading by Betty Beeler Beckett we now have a transcription of the 1860 Sullivan County Census. Janice has graciously agreed to answer any questions on the names that appear with a question mark beside them. She adds that Mr. Dryden had some good days and some bad days while taking the enumerations. Therefore his writing is very clear on one day and quite a challenge on another. Also, she made no changes in the spellings, although many were obvious. So whoever is searching needs to remember that many people had unusual pronounciations of their names.
William Mullenix's enumerations got harder to read as the days went by.
Janice has also agreed to scan a copy of the original entry, in the event there is question about accuracy.
You may contact coordinator Sharon Steele-Smith at acrabtreegirl@gmail.com with any corrections, comments, or questions.
